Is this starter OK?

I'm getting ready to brew Jamil's Christmas spiced beer, and have a question about the starter. Using the pitching rate calculator, I figured that I need 2 vials of WLP013 in a 2.7L starter. So I made it, pitched the yeast, and basically saw nothing happen. no kreusen, nothing. this morning (~36 hours after pitching) I thought the starter looked really cloudy, now (~48 hours after pitching) it maybe looks less cloudy. My question is, did this actually work? I realize that this is a fairly small starter for 2 vials, so is that why I didn't really see any activity? 'Cause I'm not 100% confident in my LHBS's yeast turnover. Any thoughts?

I've had starters do their krausening and what not overnight and never saw anything but a thin layer of foam in the morning. It seems likely that that would happen with 2 vials in 2700 ml.

I second Bub's advice.

I am almost always impressed by the lack of krausen on my starters, especially compared to my full batches.

Stick it in the fridge after 48-72 hours and watch all those yeast you can't see now settle out into a creamy layer on the bottom, decant and ptich... :D
