Bottling Day - Priming Sugar and Ascorbic Acid question

Fri Jan 29, 2010 8:39 pm

My kit came with a packet of powdered priming sugar? Is this corn sugar and should I use it, or should I stick with corn sugar? Also, there is an ascorbic acid packet i am supposed to add as an anti-oxidant? Vitamin C, right? Should I add that?
Thanks!

The packet that came with the kit is almost certainly corn sugar. It probably says dextrose. Same thing. Can't help you with ascorbic acid except to say that I haven't used it in a year-and-a-half of brewing and I've never received feedback from judges complaining about oxidation.

What (re)Todd said. :nutters:

Skip the Vitamin C (unless you want to add it to a glass of orange juice) but keep the dextrose.
