Converting Malt Syrup to DME

What is the conversion rate to substitute DME for Malt Syrup. All I hear is bad things about syrup and would rather use DME.

From what I have read 4lbs of DME roughly equal 5lbs LME, so take your LME quantity and multiply by .8 and it should give you a good starting point.

I brew extract and have made better beer with DME over LME. Dunno why... I think LME might go stale way before DME. I'll let you know after I brew with 5 lbs of LME that have been sitting on my kegerator for the past 3 week. :?
