1.087 to 1.043 Scotch Ale in 9 Days

1.087 to 1.042 Scotch Ale in 9 Days with fermentation temp at about 65 F. On Friday 3 days ago it was at about 1.047 so I haven't had much movement. I pitched with wyeast 1338 using about a 1.5 liter starter.

I am not sure how much more I am going to get out of this so I am thinking about pitching again. The attenuation just seems very low to me and I am wondering how much I really have to lose.

Thoughts?

The 1338 strain is not a high attenuating yeast...67-71%

A couple of things come to mind. You needed to pitch more healthy yeast and aerate well.
You mashed at higher temps resulting in a more dextrous wort, therefore not having enough fermentable sugars to drop the gravity.

I would suggest rousing the yeast up, raising the temp up to about 70F and letting it ferment for another week or so...If you have the extra yeast on hand it may help. Try pitching it after making a starter.Pitch it at high krauzen.

Yep, I think that is where I am at. I just removed it from the fridge and it will stay around 70 - 74 now. I think I will wait on repitching and maybe use the yeast for another beer. If this doesn't attenuate out then I can pour it on my pancakes.
