Chocolate Hazelnut Porter Tips?

Sat Aug 15, 2009 4:43 am

I'm making JZ's Porter recipe from BCS when I get back from work this morning.

Any tips from the guys who have tried it already?

Thanks

Be gentle with the hazelnut extract... add half as much as you think you might need and taste. Then walk away and come back later and taste again to make sure it's what you want before adding more. I have some on tap now that I used too much hazelnut, and while it's good - it's really hazelnutty!

+1 on the extract. This was one of the first extract kits I brewed and I wish I would have only used half the hazelnut extract. As it is now, it competes with all the other great flavors this brew offers instead of blending in with them. It has been aging for almost 4 months now and is still extremely noticeable.
