March pump

Sun Jul 13, 2008 8:14 am

Im finally going to pull the trigger on a pump for my system. I found this on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-March-pump-home ... dZViewItem

Any veteran march pump users want to offer suggestions? Are the heads interchangeable, as this one isnt NPT.

Look like a good deal, or should I just go with the MoreBeer pump?

I would honerstly go with the morebeer one, or theres a guy on ebay that sells the same march pumps as B3. Go with either one, but as for the one you posted, i would probably steer clear of it. It doesnt list the operating temps, and doesnt look too clean. Not to mention 230V.
Just my .02, but the other pump, you wont be dissapointed.

The 230V part is the biggest deal breaker for me.Tears ago I bought one like this and it didn't pump worth a shit with 110v then I realized it was 220v. I know a new pump isn't too cheap but it's worth it.

Shit I just bought that pump. Looks like b3 is getting a bit more cash from me in the near future.

I needed another pump because of a brewery rebuild, B3 hasn't had one in a while. So I went the ebay route. I found the same pump (March) as the one I orginally got from B3. It was even cheaper, including shipping. I got it in a brandnew box and the pump itself was brandnew. You may want to check ebay. I also get my Ranco controllers there for $45.00 new. I am poor so I save where I can. Better to spend money on ingredients! That being said can't beat B3 hop prices!

Show me a link for those pumps and I'll give you the biggest high five ever. And these rancos, I imagine you're wiring them yourself? Personally when I get a ranco it's gonna be a digital, dual-stage one. For $45? I'd be pumped.

Expect to pay double for the two stage ones. You won't find them anywhere for less than $90.

Hey Chris_J

Here is a pump http://cgi.ebay.com/Home-Brewing-New-March-Pump_W0QQitemZ160261728684QQihZ006QQcategoryZ38172QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem for $131 while not as cheap as I got mine it is still $9 cheaper than B3. And you get it now since B3 in out of stock. Or you can get http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-March-pump-homebrew-all-grain-FREE-S-H_W0QQitemZ140250483980QQihZ004QQcategoryZ38172QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem for $78 bucks free shipping. This pump is a stronger pump (1/15 HP vs 1/25 HP) and if you have reservations about the pump head you can get a new one from B3 for $29 pre shipping.

As far as the ranco's yes I wire mine myself and I only use the single stage. Here is a link http://cgi.ebay.com/ETC-111000-Ranco-Digital-Temp-Control-120-208-240V_W0QQitemZ280247007520QQihZ018QQcategoryZ50926QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem for some comparable to what I ordered.

Hope this helps.
Prost!
