Community Brew Recipe

I brewed this Scottish 70 recipe today, 2/16/08. Went well, had an O.G. of 1.047 from the first runnings, and 1.043ish after the boil.

We'll see how it finished out!

To date, I have full info from 11 people including myself. I went back through this thread and wrote down some more potential participants that have not given me any of their info yet. Please PM me your snailmail and email address if you are in. Deadline for info is Sunday, March 2nd at the end of the Session. 22 voted yes. Including the potentials below we are at 21... damn turtles...

I am still fermenting it from my brew on Super Bowl Sunday, but I like to bulk age.

I just put mine in the keg last night. The sample I tried was pretty clean and medium bodied, with just a touch of sweetness (I don't dig the sweet). I think I definately taste a little smoky overtone from the yeast. It's still flat and warm, but tasty. Definately one of the more delicate beers I have made (subtle flavors). If my forecasting is correct, this will be a great session beer. Thirsty, what do you recommend for CO2 volumes?

I usually go about 1.8 - 2.0 Anything over that and you start to carbonate out some of the flavor. Plus Scottish ales are supposed to be less carbonated.

Yes, it does make a great session beer. I really love the flavors that come from the carmelization and the smokiness I perceive from the yeast... I think it makes this style the perfect session beer.

I should have given more warning about the sweetness... this is really not a hoppy beer at all. Which is great for me, because I like maltier beers...
