My stir plate is pretty much the same as yours. I bought one of those variable voltage ac plugs (I'm sure that there is a proper name) and a fan with three speeds. I'm running @ 9V with the fan set to Low I think. I'm using the 1 inch stir bar from morebeer in a 1000ml erlenmeyer.

I think that 3.7 might be a little bit too low. You might want to go for at least 6V. That's just my opinion, but it kind of smells like my asshole.
I think I've had about enough beer tonight...Now I need some Whiskey to sober up

Alright I tried the 3.7 and it was too low. I just ordered the stir bars from B3.

Edit: I tried a 9V battery so I didn't have to strip another AC adaptor. The Batter didn't work either. I guess the 12V is the only way to go for me.

Update: I just ordered some stronger magnets and a 100 ohm pot.

Alright, I got the magnets in the mail. They are Uber strong. They are one inch in diameter and are really hard to pull apart.

I got the stirbars too, and I got a 100 ohm pot. The 100 ohm pot works perfectly and I recommend that to anyone.

The only problem is that I discovered that my flask is not flat on the bottom, so the stir bar doesn't work with it. I guess I'll have to get another flask.

Yes! It works perfectly. I just had to turn down the power.

I got one of those. It keeps the old stir bar standing at attention.
