Need advice for new kettle spigot

Well Santa was really nice to me and got me a 14 gallon kettle from b3. So I've now got options regarding the spigot on the inside of the kettle. The threads from the spigot creep inside of it but are in a pretty small space. I can't really afford a gadget, looking at a home made thing. Either a SS braid or a bent piece of copper. Could you guys post pics of your spigots inside the kettle? Hopefully I can learn from your mistakes! Oh and btw, when I get my shipment of ingredients I'll be able to start doing 10 gallon batches....My name is Chris, and I'm a home/brewing-network-aholic.

This is what I used to use in my converted keg before I went with the Hopstopper. Easy to fabricate, never clogged and got almost every last drop of wort.

Not sure if it was resolved but didn't you have a hard time with your hopstopper?

Yes I did, but the owner of the company (whose name I forget) sent me a modified pick-up tube (free of charge) that works great. Problem solved.

Does anyone else have a suggestion? Would SS braid work as well? If it makes a difference I use pellets hops, would they cause the screen to clog?

I just use a copper tube that has an "L" that bends down an inch or so from the main line. Leaves a quart or so of wort in the bottom and almost all the cold break.

Sean, does the L bend towards the bottom of the kettle or to the left or right? I've seen both and I'm wondering if bending straight towards the bottom would be difficult to avoid sucking in hops. Do you leave space between the bottom of the kettle and the tube?

Has anyone tried this with a turkey fryer? I was wondering if it would really make a difference or if I should just roll with what I've got.
