Yea hes talking about o'sheas. The homebrew portion of their shop seems to be a side attaraction. Their main concentration seems to be on selling comercial beers in the keg and bottle. I sent my wife in there to get a hydrometer, I even had the owner on the phone when she was at the register and I was telling him what I needed. He went and got it for her and low and behold she comes home with a thermometer.

I live not far from O'sheas but I only use them to pick up yeast cultures and co2. I would rather drive an hour to b3 to get all my grains and talk to people who know what their doing.

I used to shop there long ago before Jeff expanded the keg business. Back then he had a lot of good stuff, but was hit and miss for advice. He does have some kick ass recipe kits though (the extract Kolsch is awesome). Now, I work a few blocks from B3 Riverside... no contest. The daily drive to Riverside is a killer, but at least I can get whatever I need and great service too.

Well....we have a few good shops within driving distance of where I'm at.

a. Steinfillers- Long Beach Pretty much everything. Nice place. Will pour you a brew without hesitation. I've spent hours in here just talking about beer.

b. B3 - Riverside Everything. Lots of shit. Only poured me one once. These guys don't really sit around and talk brew.

c. Home Wine Beer Cheese - Everything. The Falcons walk around this place like storm troopers on the Death Star. I've never had a beer poured for me here. With all the falcons around, you'd think somebody would talk beer. NOPE. Strange. Not to disrespect the Falcons, it's just weird.

d. Culver City Homebrew - Pretty much everything. Only been there once. I walked in and shopped around for 20 minutes. Nobody asked me anything. I left.

e. O'Sheas - mediocre. I did, however, get the local surf report and went surfing from there. Nice guys when I was in there.

That's about all I can think of. Brewer's Rendezvous closed. That was my shop before. Bob was a great guy. Too bad he's gone.
