Why even secondary in the first place? Why not just leave the beer alone and let it hang out in the primary for 3 weeks? After 2.5 weeks I pop the carboys in my fridge or the garage and le th yeast bed compact for a day or two, then rack into my keg. Secondary is over-rated. Like BJ's from Justin.

I stopped doing secondaries a while back. Now, I just leave the beer in the primary for 2-3 weeks and rack into the keg. I don't rush the carbonation process by shaking the keg or any of that other nonsense either. I just dial in the proper pressure for the style and let it sit for a week or so. Patience is the key in all things related to fermentation and the key to being patient is building up an inventory. It's really hard to be patient when you have run out of beer.
