Sanyo 4912 kegerator question

So, on a related note, I'm about to get a 4912 to use for fermentation temperature control. Will I need to remove the door panels to fit a 6-gallon (12" diameter) bucket in there? If so, should I just follow the doc kegerator conversion instructions v-a-v the showerboard as a replacement?

You will have 12.25 inches from back to front after removing the door panel, just measured.

I used an old eraser board instead of shower board and it also works.

You can leave the door panel on. Just remove the shelving and what not off the door panel.
I placed a piece of 1x6 on the bottom of the fridge. This will allow the door panel lip to fit under a 6.5 gallon carboy or a bucket.

This will save you a lot of time and effort.

I've got a 4912 that I converted into a kegerator, but I want to modify it some more.

I can fit 2x 5-gal cornies and 1x 2.5-gal corny in the kegerator with a 5lb bottle of CO2. The fit is very close and I'd like to get the CO2 out of the kegerator interior. So, I'm thinking about drilling a 0.5in hole in the back of the kegerator to run my CO2 tubing through.

Does anyone know what's in the back panel of the 4912? Is there a good place to drill? Method for finding hidden lines (the entire back is very warm, so I doubt the flour and water method would work)?

I haven't tried with my 4912, but I understand you can feed a CO2 line through the drain hole that's already in the fridge.

That's what I did, works fine.
