Water filter -- will it work?

Sun May 06, 2007 8:22 am

Hi all,
I recently uninstalled a water filter similar to ones I see on brewing scupltures. Looks something like this:

It's already assembled on a metal bracket -- there are actually three of these things plumbed together. I didn't see any clear markings on them with a brand or anything. Are replacement filter sizes standardized?

I'd love to use these things especially if the replacement filters are reasonable.

Oh, and I've opened them up already, it appears the previous homeowners removed the filters before I got to them, so no existing filters to check part numbers on.

The filter is a charcoal filter. You can buy them at any hardware store for under $10.00

Just make sure the filter replacement you buy will remove or reduce chlorine.

Not all water is treated with chlorine, I'm one of the lucky ones almost perfect brewing water from the tap. If you don't have chlorine issues a sediment filter will work fine at half the cost.
