Son of a Fermentation Chiller variant

Has anyone finished his chiller yet?

I should have mine done later this week. I have the foam chamber almost done, and the TEC/fans are wired. Just need to figure out the door... I'm thinking about using velcro to attach the door and then plug it all in and see how it works! When I have the whole thing done I'll post some pix.

finished mine some hours ago.
right now, it's using a single 80w peltier,
but i'll probably toss a 120w in there too.

Very nice looking setup! What did you use for a cabinet?

thanks, my uncle who's a carpenter helped out a lot with the build.

for the sides, back, top, and internal shelf
(2) 8' x 4' sheets of 3/4" birch plywood

for the front trim:
some 3 1/2" x 3/4" poplar(sp?)

there was some 3/4" x 1/2" trim on the outside of the front door panel

there was also some 1/4" or 1/2" trim to act as stoppers for the lid and door panel.

he used a dado joints to connect the bottom to the sides, and rabbet/rebate joints for the rest.

i'd need to check the stain, but it might've been english chestnut 223 from home depot.

the insulation foam as cut to the MoFC's outline sheet...
figured it'd be easiest and would give me the flexibility to add ice chambers if the peltier cooling didnt work out.

That is much nicer than mine is going to look. That is a really interesting looking copper radiator/heat sink you have on there. What the hell is it?

DAMN!!!! That's real nice. Mine looks seriously ghetto in comparison. Ill be embarassed to post pix of it. Looks like we had very similar ideas in terms of power/wiring. Although I think my TEC is a bit bigger... Let us know how it works!

bug: it's a Scythe Katana Cu for socket A, 939 and other AMD cpu's. it was sitting in a computer that became a sink hole for money ... first the motherboard, then the psu, then possibly the cpu ... so i scrapped it.

the other heatsink was 2nd hand from a local computer store.

johnc66: i havent done any filled carboy tests... i may fill two 6.5's up with water and give it a whirl later today. on some dry runs, the ranco saw ambient air of 65. the cooler was on constant run while i wired the ranco, so at least a solid hour.

Lars: like i said, i was lucky engough to have a professional carpenter helping me.
all i really did was the staining and raditator setup and hand him stuff ... and get yelled at when i dropped it instead.
