You may be able to find a grommet that fits the tubing. I'm on the road right now but when I get home I'll take a pic for you. The grommet goes through the hole, and the tube seals in the grommet with out any sealant or tape or anything.

Just my 2 cents worth,

If you want to use a silicone sealent then look for a sealent made to seal aquarium tanks. Most, if not all, hardware stores will sell sealant that can be used on an aquaruim. Fish are very suseptable to chemicals so this type of sealant would be fine for a mash tun. It should be able to handle the heat as well. I've actually sealed a leak in a boil kettle with this type of sealent with no problems at all.
