1.004 FG taste unfermented

Tue Feb 04, 2014 4:54 pm

I brewed a blonde ale on 1-19-14 with an OG of 1.045. I pitched a 1L stater of wlp001 and put it in the back room to ferment.
On 2/2/14 I checked the sg and its was at 1.004 so I kegged it and forced carbed. Pulling a glass tonight it taste like un fermented wort. Anyone ever have this happen?

Did you taste it before you fermented it?

I had something similar happen but my OG Was1.065 and fg was 1.020 I had british yeast that flocked Durning a cold spell and I could not get it going with dry wine yeast or a 2lt starter of 001...I kegged it and carbonated it... Tasted worty so I pt it back in a carboy and threw in whyeast Roeselare blend. After 2 months it was at 1.014 and wad testing good.

I used a refractometer and the calculator on the northernbrewer website to get the FG. It taste very close to what the wort taste like before I pitched the yeast.

Did you ferment in a carboy? Did you see signs of fermentation?
