OK! Look man. If you've been at this for 14 years and all of sudden you are getting some fucked up batches, it has to be something that you can figure out. I've heard (only heard and I don't want all kinds of people screaming at me) that adding some sugars will cause this off flavor. I've also heard that stale sugars will cause this off flavor.
1. Did you use any source of the same ingredient in all 3 batches?
2. Has your wife been trying to get you to stop brewing for years and is throwing bacterias into your brew?
3. Maybe in the new place there is a new beasy in the air and you'll have to modify your procedure just a bit?

I don't know but I'm sure it can be figured out. The new water might be a huge problem. I live in LA and have to use bottled water. I tried tap once and it tasted like chalk. It was horrible. Maybe you are in a new well or something.

OK. I have a water filter and a new homemade sculpture. I'm going to brew on Wednesday with some friends of mine. I'll keep you posted.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.

If you haven't sussed the problem out with this latest batch, consider sending a bottle of the bad stuff in to the show. Maybe the Brewcasters will do an on-air taste analysis for you.

Are you using plastic buckets to ferment in ?
If so, you may want to try splitting a batch and putting 5 gallons into a bucket and 5 into a glass carboy. If you use plastic buckets you may have a micro infection going on inside them and you'll never be able to get it completely out.

I went through a spell where my beers kept coming out "Not quite right" no matter how much i sanatized. One weekend i was short on fermenters and split the batch between a glass carboy and a plastic bucket. 10 days later, the glass fermented beer was perfect, the plastic fermented was again, "not quite right"

Give it a try and see what happens.

I use glass despite the risk of personal injury. It's just the way I've done it for soooo long now.
I have sent in a bottle of IPA that I made this year. It went in around Sept. They just haven't had a chance to try it and get back to me. That one was sent in for advice on clearity though. Maybe while they have it I will hear weather or not they taste anything off like that.
I did brew with a new water filter yesterday. I did the 5 minute run through before I used it. From the beginning to the last water addition anywhere, that is the only water that went in. Here's a pic of the filter set-up that I have.

We'll see in about 3 weeks if that flavor is there or not. :?

That pot looks all shiny and new.

Is it aluminum? I'm no alumniphobe, but have you boiled some water, wort, dirt, whatever people say to boil in it to make it oxidize some ?

I read this entire thread and kept thinking it was your water. After that, have you tried pH5.2 - if so, are you using too much ?

Switched priming sugars or priming methods? If u keg, have you cleaned your kegging rig COMPLETELY ?

Finally, seriously, do you have a cold? Have you changed your house air filter lately? Do you like movies about Galdiators? Have you ever seen a crisp twenty dollar bill?

Best of luck, man, keep us posted.
