Anyone used the Bayou Classic SP40?

Look what i just ordered! Has anyone ever used this burner before? I bought it because of the diameter of the cooking surface 22" so it would be large enough for any kettle I use in the future, and the BTU output. I am just starting out, and I could not find many reviews about this burner, but this is the one with the wind-screen around the 2 tubes, they make another model that is not as beefy. Let me know your thoughts guys!

Yes, that will DEFINITELY heat your shit up.
I have a buddy that had one of the single tube ones and it was loud and hot as hell.

The bigger issue is how controllable it is when you only need to maintain a rolling boil.
That may have too much heat, even on its lowest setting. Maybe somebody that has one
can comment on that. Otherwise, I'd suggest something more like this:

Well SHIT! LOL I already bought the damn thing, and the picture was it sitting on my dining room table. Excuse the mess, its under remodel ATM. Heat control sounds logical, but for some reason that slipped my mind when I ordered this bad boy. I got a pretty good deal off Amazon on this burner. I got it for $84, and I seen it locally at Northern Tool for $119, so I think I got a good deal. The sad part of the whole deal was when i walked into one of my local brew shops this past Saturday, they had one for $58 and mine already shipped! DOH!!!

I will try to make the best of it, and we live and learn I guess, but it has a 30 PSI regulator, and I can imagine that I should be able to turn it down low, and I should still be fine. I bought a 10.5 gallon pot for my 5 gallon batches for head space. Again, I am a n00b, and I have not had my first brew day yet, so I will be popping that cherry very soon

I was taken back by how loud those burners are when my friend fired his up. I recall the first 2-3 times he used it you could smell the burning paint fumes well across the yard for the entire brew day. No bueno.

Man........somebody should post a video on youtube of how loud it is. I think I may have seen one video on the burner. I will be sure to burn the paint off and burn in the unit before I brew. LOL I will also try to post a video on my youtube channel of the test run. I plan to do this when I test out my 50' copper immersion chiller that I made. This will be a good run for it before I brew for the first time.

I am not sure how high it is turned up, but it does sound like a blow torch! LOL I doubt this is turned down to LOW, but I will be sure to do a video of mine and post it when I do my test run for my immersion chiller, and burn in.

No option of returning it? It'll work, but there are much better options out there. I used the non-stainless version of the one in BD's 2nd link for years. Loved it so much that I didn't sell it when I upgraded to the Blichmann.

The other issue with those jet tube style burners is they create a hell of a hot spot. Both problems can be solved by buying a thick aluminum heat transfer plate, but by that time you'll have spent more combined than you would have on a new Blichmann which would still be a better option.
