Not to ruffle any feathers I just had to ask.
BTW; that's a great win by Rock Art Brewery vs the big giant energy drink company. I'll make sure we don't drink what the're pushing in my house.

One "lesson learned" is the motor I purchased (on eBay) isn't capacitor start, so I do need need to start the motor before filling the hopper (the mark on my finger nail has almost grown out from an impact which occured when I tried to spin the large sheave in an attempt to get the mill spinning).

Putting a Start Cap on the thing is duck soup. That'll solve your problems and for like $5.00

Actually, I'm more interested in that motor setup. What are the specs/sources on those components, and how well is that setup working out for you?

I've used mine for 4 batches now with full satsifaction. Not the same as a happy ending.

Wish I had the patience to build a hopper as sweet as Otterbrew's, though. I just cut off the bottom of a plastic carboy.

The direct drive motor works great for me. I didn't want to catch a finger or something else in the pulley assembly.

I just got mine and Fred was sold out of the 3/8 drive so I bought the 1/2 inch not thinking anything of it. But I read this in the instructions:

If you have the larger ½” drive shaft it will be necessary to press the bushings for the
driven roller out, and back into the opposite frames. Make sure to use a press or vice, and go slowly, as it’s impossible to get
them in straight with a hammer. Make sure that you press the bushings a tiny bit through the frame to the inside so that the
rollers ride on the edge of the bushing, rather than against the aluminum frame.

Anyone else out there have to go through all this? Obviously I'm no machinist...
