Re: How much do you leave behind?

It depends on how much hops are used in the recipe that soak up wort. However, as Bugeater said, a pickup tube works great. I bought one of these from Bargainfittings.com Image for my converted keggle. As is shown here, it leaves a gallon in the kettle. However, I am cutting it shorter at a 45 degree angle before the next brew to get closer to the center, but not into the trub for most beers. This should reduce the amount to 1/4 of a gallon or less.

Thanks all for the replies! My goal is to get down to 2 - 3 quarts. I guess a little tilting of the kettle and getting a little trub is my best bet. By the way, I also using a pickup from bargainfittings... Image

Thanks again!

Are you spanning burners? That helped me shave off a little time when I was stove'n it.

Yep, I have 1 one burner on high and the other half way... the second one on high results in a lot of wasted flame. Its good enough for me... the stove is 6+ feet from the kegerator.
