Makin Beer in the Desert!

Sun Jan 08, 2012 9:28 am

Hey everyone! New to the forum so I thought I'd start here. My name is Matt and I'm from Phoenix. I've been brewing since early 07. I started out with kits and partial mashes but made the jump to all grain about a year and a half ago. My rig is made up of 3 keg conversions. 1 HLT, 1 MT and my kettle. I typically brew 5 G batches but throw in the occasional 10 G batch of my house beers.
I brew on a two tier burner that I got from Home Depot. It works well but I just got a banjo burner so, its time to switch a cast burner out for the new one!
I ferment in all kinds of vessels from carboys, to a 7.5 G conical to yet another keg keg conversion that I can put an 11 G batch into. All fermentation is done in a converted side by side refrigerator with the middle partition cut out for more space. I almost exclusively keg all of my beer due to just plain laziness. I bottle when necessary or when requested but I just love pulling a pint from the keg.
My favorite beers to brew are West Coast style IPA's. When I'm not brewing, I'm thinking about brewing. Its really all I want to do in my spare time. I'm an AHA member and have been on their Forum since I went all grain. Iv'e been listening to the BN podcasts for as long and thought it was time to join the forum. Just from reading through some of the posts, I'm excited to be here!

Cheers!

Matt

Welcome to the BN fellow AZ brewer! Sounds like you have the brewing bug, so no need to warn you about the madness that eventually sets in ... enjoy and perhaps I'll run into you somewhere and share a brew or two!
