I had temp problems for years trying to get my mash bed at the right temp. They say your supposed to get your strike water 12-18 deg higher than your desired temp. But, to me that is a huge range, and I always missed.

Now, I use heat sticks. I put the water in the cooler, with the sticks and heat it up. My strike temp now is only 5 deg higher than my desired temp. I seem to hit it every time now. This way the cooler has heated up as well, and this seems way easier.
