I just got a hop rocket in the mail from blichmann. As my toptier is still back-ordered, I'm just kind of screwing around with my gear still. Yesterday while pressure testing all my stuff, I found that I couldn't get the hop rocket to stop leaking. I've got a FPT/FPT coupling attached to both of the MPT thingummies on the rocket, to which I've attached some QDs. I used teflon tape on the junction. I'm pretty paranoid about overtightening these connections, but unlike all the other junctions in my brewery (including the therminator and my pot valves) hand-tightening leads to a slow but definite leak in the MPT/FPT junction on both sides of the rocket.
I tried using gentle force with a wrench (annoying with these couplings, since there's no hex on it to grip) and tightened a bit. Still leaking, although less so. It's a very small leak, but as this will be post-boil wort, I'm worried about getting a sticky mess on the floor and also about the cleaning issues of getting wort stuck in my threads.
I also tried swapping the couplings with other ones; it's definitely not them - the nonleaky therminator still doesn't leak when swapped the couplings.
Anybody else have this issue?
