Why not come to San Diego for a week of incredible weather (it was 76 and sunny today here with mid teens humidity), drink the best beer you've ever had at many of the best bars you've ever been to and, stare at some of the best looking and most friendly people you've ever met.

Will your avatar be there Matt? You may get a better turnout if you say yes.

More likely no one on the east coast was able to put together an adequate hosting committee.
I don't think they would intentionally ignore the east coast or any region for that matter.

Yes. Word at the conference was that it's going to be west coast for the next couple years, because nobody in other parts of the country is stepping up to host.

Drew Beechum posted on a different thread saying that someone on the East Coast had a pretty good head start for 2012. I know that will upset the Pacific NW people since they are all dying to get it up there.

The rumor is Philly is the only place in the East that has a chance for the next four years or so.

I have nothing against the west coast, but I would like the conference to be someplace where the travel costs are a little lower (for me) - at least every two or three years. Cinci and Minneapolis were good, unfortunately I couldn't afford to go to Oakland last year. I'm gonna start saving for San Diego now...

That's exactly what it is. The AHA would love it if we could be in a different part of the country each year, and keep moving it around equally. But it's not really up to us. There has a to be a local committee that has the resources available to host. There is no bias for or against any part of the country. It's simply a matter of a group of people presenting us with a plan for their area. We're currently working with an east coast group and we hope to get out there sooner rather than later. But the AHA doesn't make these decisions in isolation. If we don't have a strong local group with a good plan, our only choice is to go where there is one. If anybody anywhere is interested in hosting a conference, I can direct you to a document showing what it takes. After that, it's up to you.

The food here is incredible, the beer is incredible, the people are incredible and we're lucky enough to have a core group of people who were willing to put a bid in to have the NHC here. We're already the only city (I think) to ever host the world beer cup/CBC twice and it's already scheduled to be back here for a third time in 2012 so you have to realize San Diego is an incredible city and an even more incredible beer destination.

See you all next year. I'll be the drunk fat guy! :D

+1, San Diego rocks and is within driving distance for me, whoot!

I can't wait to hear more details about exactly when and where... :drink
