I agree with Mylo. Sorry to throw you under the bus Guido, but this statement exemplifies snobbery. Besides that, it's like Justin's "I'm just saying" rule. Statement followed by an exception is negated.

I don't consider myself to be a beer snob. I won't drink anything from BMC because it's bad beer--not because I'm a snob. Also, I don't drink their products because they've forced many small breweries out of business. (I'm glad AB got its payback from InBev.)

Do you boycott other industries where companies put competitors out of business? Like Ford, GM and Chrysler? You don't see any Tuckers, DeSotos or Nashes on the road anymore, for example.

I was a loyal GM customer, but I've boycotted GM since the early 90's when they sold me a lemon and didn't stand by it. Looks like I'm not the only one. I don't mind bad companies (those that make inferior products) going out of business. Sometimes it's a shame that the market place dictates what's popular--and good, small companies go by the wayside.

I don't shop at Walmart for this and many other reasons ... As far as beer goes, I don't drink beers from MMC because I don't like them, but I do try new "products" when they come out to see if they are getting better (to name one, American Ale is horrible). I try to keep my homebrew inventory well stocked with a bit of variety, so I can always drink something different that I like. When I do buy beer, I am looking for something I haven't tried, really liked, or the style lline of something I'm planning on brewing. I have probably bought as least one of 80%+ of the beers available to me locally. I am a steady but transient beer drinker with no real consistent "goto" beer except Corona (12 pack boxes in the back of the shelf without the finger holes) or Tecate when I'm bored or camping.

With that, I wouldn't consider myself a beer snob, but my BMC friends do.

I shop at Wal-Mart because I live in a small tourist town. And it's a German town. So local prices are twice Wal-Mart's. Wal-Mart didn't kill the local department and hardware stores, rents on Main Street did that. Place on Main in the tourist district charge $10-15 thousand a month. Only the high end tourist stores could survive.

I would be more impressed with folks who don't shop at Wal-Mart, including my boss, if they also didn't shop at the local grocery chain (The two local grocery stores closed because of the new large store headquartered in San Antonio.), or drive to San Antonio or Austin to buy food and office supplies at Costco. In fact, my boss would not shop at the local office supply house--not even for pens--because he could get things cheaper at Costco. And my boss was on the "Buy local" campaign committee!

They way I see it, I will buy from places that employ local people and pay local taxes instead of driving an hour to save nickel.

I shop at Wally World, not because I like to, but because it's cheap. and there is no comparison from shopping at Wal Mart and drinking a tasty beer. sure you can expand the view of almost anything to compare on the same level. but the closer you get, the more you can see they are nothing alike.

True, but the point was made that AB put a lot of smaller breweries out of business. And while that's a fine reason to boycott their products, I was trying to point out that all business try to do that. Now, I am off my soapbox and counting the minutes until BNA5.
