StarSan is bad for aluminum only if you leave it for a long time. I don't suggest leaving it for too long though.

Thanks guys, I'll think twice about how I long I leave the starsan in there if/when I get a valve put on. As far as the original poster goes, it seems like it may be a reasonable way to go through because of the SS fryer pot.
