I thought it was awesome when Colin started asking him abour sodium chloride vs. potassium chloride. Then again I own at least 6 differnt kinds of salt. I understand what you guys are saying but you don't bring on Gordon Strong to ask him about extract brewing why would you bring on Paxton to talk about how to make Kraft Macaroni & Cheese

Brad

When someone asks for a simple recipe, answer their question. We all have things we "geek out" about, but some people just want a simple answer. Dont overload them with info to the point they say "Nevermind".

Who the fuck would want to listen to a show of someone reading a recipe? Paxton could make Laundry Lint Soup sound good.

I think you are oversimplifying a bit. We don't want a show where he just 'reads the recipe', but we would like a recipe to go along with the details behind it. Look at the Jamil show, JZ goes through what it takes to make a great version of a style of beer, and at the end he gives his recipe. It's great to hear the background information, that's what makes it interesting. But not many of us are going to be able to make the leap from an abstract idea of what a dish (or a beer) should be and come up with the right ingredients to make it. Paxton tends to wax on a lot about 'what you need to think about' and never really gets to the point where we can take this information and try it out for ourselves.

Please God NO!!! I want to hear the information and to the point please; just as one poster said. JZ is a great example of how to be informative and to the point. Paxton drives me nuts. He comes off as a bit conceited too.

You don't have to listen then. I'd love to have a Paxton show.

Hate to agree with JP*, but I would love a Paxton show, too. And a Homer show, and an Emergency BBQ show. I can slap together something, but it would be nice to have the background info on why and how to do it.

*No, I really don't hate to agree with JP.

Way to sell it JP.... Personally, I'd like to hear someone easier to listen to and gets to the point without an ambiguous five minute dissertation for each question asked, but obviously, I'm in the minority.

I really believe that there is a "false coolness" that is precieved on the tounge. This is a newer sensory idea that is not accepted. The best example is a wintergreen lifesaver makes your mouth feel cool. So does adding CaCl to your strike water. It can be a nice balance.

And JZ is to the point with a 15 minute preamble to most shows that have nothing to do with the topic at hand?*

I don't know how anyone could call Paxton conceited. I've listened to all his appearances and he never comes off that way to me. Listen to the 120 cybi show. It wasn't cloned and he was completely honest about it. I'd be careful about reading too much into what people say, just look at where that sort of thing got JP. :unicornrainbow:
