I've got the exact same mill that is shown in the link and the motor won't even turn it over. So there is definitely something binding it up.

A capacitor start is one motor configuration. My motor is a PSC, permanent split capacitor, in which the capacitor is always connected. There are a variety of configurations.

Does the motor work not connected to the mill? Have you ruled out a wiring problem or bad motor?

80 RPMs with no mill attached. I can almost stop the shaft with my hand! That doesn't sound like much torque to me.

I'm going to pull the gear box off this weekend and see if we can figure out what the problem is stemming from.

FYI, so far my motor has had zero problems starting or running from a dead stop in either direction with a load of grain in the hopper.
