You guys are right... I fail. The first time I watched it I thought it was bad but it gets better and better each time I watch it. I just added it to my Netflix queue.

I was about to lose my damn mind at the mere suggestion that They Live may have possibly been anything short of an awesome movie. I think I first saw it while I was still in high school and recognized the greatness then.

On a separate note, Thomas and the Magic Railroad sounds like something I'll have to watch along with a bunch of beer.

the key difference between They Live and, for example, the remake of The Wicker Man, is that john carpenter intended to make they live as a funny sci-fi thriller. all the humor in wicker man is because of ineptitude.

I did see Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus recently. Easily one of the worst movies ever made.

Actually he is Coppola's nephew and he changed his last name. I don't think he is that good of an actor either. But there are plenty of crappy movies and actors out there that some seem to enjoy.

Alec Baldwin is another overrated one. His "Sweaty Balls" that someone wrote for him on SNL was pretty damn funny, but never really liked the few movies I saw him in.

And Sean Penn. His best roles are playing strung out folks in "Fast Times" or "Falcon and a Snowman" - he makes those believable.

I never made it completely through "Waterworld" - my worst that I can remember - but may be not as bad as several mentioned here that I have not seen.

Mega Force. And hour and a half of sheer suckage dressed up with dune buggies. It is the inspiration of the dune buggy scene in the last Next Generation movie, which is probably why that sucked so much.

No Temporal Refunds
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009 @ 6:39 pm | Other

Every couple of months we receive an email that includes some variation of the following:

“Give me back the two hours of my life I wasted watching your movie.”

We don’t mind negative feedback (it’s practically the only kind we get), but this one just bugs me.

For one thing, it’s not clever and it’s not original. In fact, dare I say it… it’s sort of a mockbuster of cinematic criticism. Second, our movies are rarely longer than 90 minutes (they just feel like they’re two hours). And frankly, they don’t usually get any better after the first 15. If you hate the movie and still end up watching the whole thing, I’m sorry… but that’s on you.

So, please don’t ask for refunds of time anymore. Just tell us what you really think, like Jeff, who wrote:

“I hate you please die in a fire”

Now that’s original.
