I'm going to try this method. Will pull off a few liters from the middle of my lauter, when the gravity might be around 1040. Can check it with hydrometer and adjust if necessary. Can then boil and cool this starter wort while the main batch is lautering/boiling/cooling and pitch the yeast. Can then use this starter for the current batch, or the next batch if it's coming up soon.
