Any idea how to treat a fourth year hop plant transplant?

I got this four year old hop root ball. I cut a bunch of rhizomes, and they are all doing well. I planted the root ball and the thing is going freakin' nuts! My question is this, do I treat the root ball, ie: Transplanted hop plant, as a fourth year plant and keep three or four bines trimming the rest? Or do I let it go like you would a first year plant?

I'd probably let it go like a first year. This way it will establish the smaller roots that are necessary to produce a healthy crop.

If it is going freakin nuts, I would let it grow like an older plant. Be sure to give it lots of water and compost. BTW, what variety is it?

Older plants should be cut back to two - four bines per crown. So that's what I can't decide.
As far as the variety, all of my plants right now are Cascade.

I let my 3 year old hop plants have 6 vines per mound, so I would recommend 4-6 shoots. It is a balance of hops this year vs. root growth for next year. If you are worried about the health of the roots and don't care what you get for a harvest this year, then let 2-4 shoots grow. Hops seem pretty hardy, so I wouldn't worry too much. Plant your hops and let them grow, grow, grow.
