It did take some time to put everything together and what not, but I think the money was the biggest issue. I did all of the work myself, but all of that treated lumber, galvanized nails, stainless eye hooks, and potting soil put a hurting on my wallet. I guess the cost of the 24 rhizomes and the coir yarn added up to a bit also, but all of the other stuff cost me more than I want to spend again anytime soon on a hop trellising setup.

That said, I'll be right over...as long as you have beer on tap.

Well, it's good I didn't take a close-up picture of that. Basically I just marked the 4x4 and then went nuts making a bunch of slices with the circular saw. I then broke out a chisel and hammer and knocked out the remaining wood. It wasn't the best approach, but it worked.

Maybe I will on the next time, hehe. I can even use a router to enhance the edges and maybe woodburn in the hops varieties' names on the wood. Okay, maybe not...even I have my limits.

I just had to do it. I harvested some of my cascades today. Thay are really ready and I just had to do it. I was able to get about two handfulls of full size cascade flowers. I know that it doesn't amount to enough for a full batch, but I will have enough by the end of the week to use in one. I'm just glad I'll be able to use them all. I'll have pics of the harvest in a few days. I'm going to freeze and bag them on friday. I'll let you know how well it turns out. I bet it will be just fine for me.

:D I just had to do it. I harvested some of my cascades today.

Da Bear, that's pretty nice that they're growing so quickly. I'd probably be doing the same thing as you if my hops were even remotely close to harvestable. Are you planning on using them to wet hop, or are you drying them? Let us know how they are.

I am drying some right now, but I'm also going to dry hop with some. I'm brewing a stout on friday. I know that it's not to style, but I'm going to use them in it. Just so I can say that they are in there.
Here are some of them. I'm just drying them on paper towels for now. It worked. I don't know how it will effect them, but they smell great.



I'll keep you posted on how the beer goes.

Harvested this beast last week. Second year cascade. Didn't get that much, filled a gallon ziplock back from two plants. Not very fragrant, and probably wont be very good. The centennials (next to the cascade monster) have a really nice aroma.
