I'm all about the disposable sterile pipettes...It seems to have stuck from all those samples I took at WL.

glass wine thief. Had the plastic one for quite a while but I like the glass one better.

I have the Fermtech thief also and it is great. Your hydrometer fits inside the thief and the one way valve at the bottom lets you pull a full sample with a couple of strokes. It's really long so you can pull samples from partially full fermenters. In my experience, the Fermtech auto siphon is a piece of total shit-ass, unless you enjoy constantly losing your siphon and pulling lots of air into the beer your racking.

Use a hose clamp. Fixed my problems with this.

Yeah, I was pulling air through the dash rod plunger seal pumpy thingy, not the discharge output/couple to transfer hose area. Seems like everyone that tries the auto siphon either loves it or hates it.
