Software makes all grain brewing much easier. Beer XML is an exchangable format. BeerSmith and BeerTools supports it fully. Until Promash starts supporting it, it is the most compelling reason to stay away from it. Both have a free trial that you can download and play with before you plunk down your $20.

Everything I've seen to date folks dump a printout from Pro Mash (or wahtever) and post that. Or is it just easier that way to load recipes manually? Just thought it would be cool to be able to import the 80 recipes from BCS or other places.

Yes. The recipes are .rec files that can be just dropped into your recipe file in ProMash.

Do you think it would be useful if BN forum members could file share recipies here?

Might be cool if you could click on Tasty, JZ's, Doc, Bugeater (or whomever's) profile and the recipies that they wanted to share were available in .rec format here on the BN for download? I would think you would want it organized by person because putting it all in one area might make it unmanageable.

Personally I would be more interested in more limited area beers than nationally distributed beers just because I live in an area where you can't get real "good" beer w/o traveling 2.5+ hours. Coastal beers (east or west) would be great.

Green Flash West Coast IPA is widely distributed across the country, too. It's a hop head's beer. It sells for $12-15 a six pack, but I just can't get enough of the stuff. I'd love to know how they make that beer so hoppy and I'd love to see it on the new Jamil Show.

Tom emailed canyoubrewit@thebrewingnetwork.com about Green Flash West Coast IPA (and others) so it's been officially nominated.

Up until the last round of price increases on craft beer I wasn't a proponent of homebrewing to make beer cheaper than you can buy it because it assumed your time was worth nothing. Prices have gotten so high, I'm re-thinking that. Where I used to make a 10 gallon batches to go into my 12 gallon conicals, on session beers, I now make 15 gallon batches and put 5 in a carboy. Same labor, more beer.
