Ok, there's an implimentation of all grain to extract conversion now up on the site : http://www.brewtility.com/Default.aspx

Right now it only converts base grains from the site library that have known extract equivalents and it assumes a full boil so the hops aren't adjusted. It's a first crack at this functionality so it'll improve with time. I'll be interested to get some feedback.

Very cool! I'll check it out now and hopefully will be able to give it a try real soon. Keep up the good work!

Shameless plug for the free online recipe creation site I use. http://hopville.com/. The recipe creation options are awesome. Different ibu formulas or you can use the average. Very adjustable and you can add ingredients if they are not there. You save your recipes under your profile and people can comment on them. Very nice.

What are you using for the back end... SQL Server? MySQL? MS Access? Other "no pants" database option? Just wondering.

I'm a .NET guy so it's using SQL 2000. I'll be getting it moved to SQL 2005 or 2008 at some point, but it's a PITA on my current webhost so I've just left it there since I don't need the extra caching and performance improvements that come with the newer versions (hopefully soon I will though!)

I like the site... you could probably do something with a cross-reference table for base-grains to LME. Then maybe just run everything through a single stored procedure to give you your final grain build. That's just a thought. I think one of the guys I work with does that for an automotive paint program with custom paints cross-ref'ed with the OEM paint for mixing purposes.

With that, you might be able to go both ways... AG to Extract and Extract to AG (I said "go both ways"). You would just have to assume a standard efficiency for AG. Sorry.... I feel like I'm babbling. I actually do a good bit of work with .NET and SQL backends for work. If you ever want to bounce some ideas, just let me know! I like what you got so far.
