Tasty,

In your conversations with Boston Beer Co., did they indicate whether they would have any on tap at their Boston headquarters? Its right down the street from my work, so I was thinking on stopping by during a tour.

Brew Engineer: Never say never. Although I don't know exactly when the beer will get here from Boston, when it does I'm immediately grabbing a keg for my kegerator and for filling one of my 2.5 kegs. If that all happens before you leave for LA, who knows you may get an advanace tasting since once it's in a small keg, I'm mobile baby!

breyton: I doubt if they will serve it in the tasting room. When I visited out there, the "body language" of the staff along with the fact that the beer magically disappears, indicates to me that they are probably going to drink the rest themselves. The exception might be is that there's this one bar in Boston (Jamaica Plain) called Doyles that gets to serve a lot of one-up beers for Sam Adams. I'll check with the SA people when I see them next week. I actually DO have some control over the beer. As long as it exists. I'll try and get them to set a date and advertise at the bar that it's coming. Of course I'd let you know.

Well, I'll be bar hopping all weekend through San Francisco. If the beer arrives by then, hopefully I can find a way to meet up with you. If it works out, I'll gladly send a "care package" of local and home brewed beers in trade...

I'll be hitting those same bars. Since February is Strong Beer Month here, I think March should be Weak Beer Month. I'll be with Chad and Justin.

Mike... congrats on the win... congrats on getting them to send it out to you. Looking forward to trying it from in the Long Shot sixer next year.

Also... a big thumbs-up to Sam Adams for not only putting on the competition, but working with you and sending you the beer. Wish I could be there to try it with everyone.

Prost!

That's a point worth repeating. Everyone at Sam Adams, and especially Jim Koch, has been just great. Although the Longshot is clearly a SA marketing program in every way, because everyone there from Jim on down are big fans of homebrewers, you're treated like royalty.
