Don't get me wrong, the best beers I've ever tasted were at GABF or from my 'Break the Bank' runs on the GABF trip. I used to save up all year, hit up a good bottle shop & drop a few hundred bucks in a shot. I think my record was $700 at one store. When they realized how serious I was they gave me my own manager who was pulling great stuff out of the back stash & off the truck that had just pulled in that didn't even make into inventory yet. Sadly, I haven't gone in 3, maybe 4 years now & I'm down to a couple dozen bottles. On the plus side, there's a few of those I'm creaming my pants just thinking about opening.

Damn, $700? That is an impressive bottle shop run.

That only happened because I couldn't find a store with a decent selection the year before & had quite a bit left over in the beer fund. When I found that mecca I wasn't about to let it happen again. Back then Montana didn't have the greatest selection... not that we do now, but it has improved considerably in the last couple years.

You know you're a beer geek when you budget a portion of every paycheck throughout the year for 1 weekend in Denver.

Uhm..Well.. I honestly feel that I would be lying if I said that the fest sessions all were. I got a ticket to the members only session Saturday and that's the only one I wanted to go to. Last year was my first year at GABF and I went to every session except for the second Saturday session. Members only had shorter lines and was much more of a chill environment. Still, even then, I don't know that I would call it mind blowing but I would say that I had a great time at that one. I'm mainly looking forward to hitting up a bunch of breweries and checking out other events in the area. I just want to hang out, drink a lot of amazing craft beer, hang out with the friends I only see at fests and meet a ton of other people.

That is a good attitude towards beer fests. Cheers.

Ill be at the Saturday members session, the brewery I work for was a victim of the registration debacle this year so we are not in the competition. But.....we are going to participate in the event at Crooked Stave.

What is the event at Cooked Stave? That's one of the breweries I was hoping to visit while in town for GABF
