My favorite dunkelweizen is Paulaner and my favorite hefeweizen is Weihenstephaner. The only one that I have had in the USA is Franziskaner, which was terrible and nothing like what I had drank in Germany. It might be possible to find a decent imported beer if it was on tap, but I think it is probably better to find good American breweries that brew good examples of the style. I hear that Sierra Nevada's Kellerweiss is good, but I have never tried it myself. Sam Adam's black lager will fulfill my schwarzbier cravings until I can brew my own, so I think I should either start brewing weizenbier or find a decent american version.
