one week recipe

Thu Jan 17, 2008 7:28 pm

i'm pretty sure i wasn't totally hammered when i heard Tastey talking in the background about a beer that he was drinking and serving at only a week old. I couldn't tell you the episode but i know i heard this. if anyone could verify this it would be greatly appreciated. if this is true and Tastey made it, i'm pretty sure the entire BN would be grateful for a recipe that could be turned around in a week and taste great. thanks everyone, Drew

A dark mild would work too. 1.035 OG, WLp002 to flocc out fast, ferment around 70F. Rack to a keg with a spunding valve on about day 3, let it finish. Then chill and serve. CAMRA will be proud of you.
What's on tap: Cream Ale, Imperial Blonde
Secondary: British Amber,
Primary: APA

I made a dry stout that I needed in a hurry. Made on Saturday, drank the next Saturday.

The rest of the batch improved with a few more weeks age, but the week old stuff was perfectly respectable.

80% pale
20% flaked Barley
10% Roasted barley

OG 1.041
FG 1.010

Fermentis US 05 dried yeast (two packs), 18° first 24hrs then up to 20°C. Kegged and force carbed on the morning of consumption.

Don't know about Tasty, but I've turned a mild around in that time frame.

And then one time I had a stout from MB Raines and she had it flipped from kettle to glass in 4 days!
