Examples of Club Newsletters

Fri Jun 05, 2009 12:36 pm

All,
I’ve been tossing around the idea of creating a club newsletter for our club. We presently distribute minutes, but it’s nothing more than notes from our last meeting and a record of attendance.

I’m not really a creative person, so I’m hoping that some of you would be willing to show me what your clubs are doing. I’ve seen quite a few really cool ones. I’m thinking that we could have various members do write ups on a number of things including, but not limited to:

How to do a certain technique
Style profiles
Judges corner
Beer in the news
Beer events

I think that this would be a great opportunity to give newer brewers an opportunity to learn brewing skills and stylistic knowledge as they prepare various articles for the news letter. It’s also a great opportunity to give some of our more advanced brewers an opportunity to share what they know.

I don’t know, maybe with the use of the internet and the quality publications and forums out there such a newsletter is obsolete. One can honestly find anything they need by jumping online…is it a pointless effort?

Let me know what you think.

I think its a great idea and not pointless at all. Not everyone that brews scours the internet to learn new things. Placing something like that in someones hands will not only give them information but will probably get them thinking about things they may not ordinarily think about and question things they might not have which in turn may turn them on to researching future questions which may be added to your news letter.

Here is a link to one of our newsletters. http://www.lincolnlagers.com/newsletter ... %20Oct.pdf

It's a pretty typical example of Lincoln Lagers newsletters except for the ugly picture on the first page. 8)

I do the website for the Basin Brewers in Midland/Odessa, TX. The Secretary, Adam, does the newsletter. Here's their archive for the past few months:
