Seeking an Oatmeal Pale Ale recipe

Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:05 am

Last year, I thought I saw a recipe posted for an oatmeal pale ale, but I can't seem to find it through the search option. It might have even been a recipe from Macgruffus, but my search skills have failed me.

Does anyone have a Pale Ale recipe using oats?

Much appreciated!!!

Here's the thread where you guys were talking about the oatmeal pale ale.

I usually use google to search the BN forums and most other phpBB forums for that matter.

Ok, I've got a question about the various Oat products.

What different characteristics might I get between flaked oats, and oat malt?

I am still an extract/steeping grain and occasional mini-mash brewer. Do I need to mini-mash either of these to get the full benefit/effect?

I've had inconsistent results with my oatmeal stout lately, and wondering if I should change how I use the oatmeal when I make this Oat Pale Ale.

Thanks!

Not sure what the different characteristics are, but I do know you have to do a mini mash if you're going to use oats. You need to convert the oats and steeping them isn't going to do it.
