Hi all

My first brew of 2009, so I decided to go ahead and brew something nice and big another party-gyle beer but with the efficiency set to 50 %

Looks like the mash tun was maxed out. Great job, I'll bet it's gonna taste great. I've only made one barley wine, but man was it good. It was a maple. I only have 3 bottles left. I'm trying to save one of them for at least another year. Do you make a second beer from so much grain? The last 2 batches I did, I made a second runnings lower gravity beer and either added 1 pound of honey or 1 lb table sugar. One of the beers I tried and was very satisfied with and the other is sitting in secondary with 1oz of oak chips. Both of my high gravity beers had 15lbs of grain in the mash and at least a pound of sugar.
Barleywines are my favorite.

Hi heliboy

It was quite neat the limit of the mash tun alright, I am hopping to bottle this and maybe do another before the weather gets warmer. I only did a single beer due to lack of fermentors but there should be another 1.040-.045 beer left in there. Sounds like yours turned out nicely :D
