This is my first recipe I tried to come up with from scratch. It's made mostly of leftover hops I have lying around and I've never used Victory before and I wanted to try it.

I'm most concerned about the hopping schedule. Do you think Amarillo will fit in well with mostly Cascade and Chinook? The use of Galena+Chinook @60min is because that's what I have and they have the same alpha rating so it's really just .75oz of hops @60min addition

6.00 lb Pale Liquid Extract (8.0 SRM) Extract 40.7 %
6.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 40.7 %
1.50 lb Victory Malt (25.0 SRM) Grain 10.2 %
0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM) Grain 3.4 %
0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L (20.0 SRM) Grain 3.4 %
0.25 lb Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM) Grain 1.7 %
0.50 oz Galena [13.00%] (60 min) Hops 17.3 IBU
0.25 oz Chinook [13.00%] (60 min) Hops 8.6 IBU
1.00 oz Chinook [13.00%] (20 min) Hops 20.9 IBU
1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.50%] (10 min) Hops 8.2 IBU
0.50 oz Cascade [5.50%] (Dry Hop 3 days) Hops -
0.50 oz Chinook [13.00%] (Dry Hop 3 days) Hops -
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50%] (0 min) Hops -
1.00 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
2 Pkgs California Ale (White Labs #WLP001) Yeast-Ale

Est Original Gravity: 1.067 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.015 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 6.8 %
Bitterness: 55.1 IBU Calories: 43 cal/pint
Est Color: 16.5 SRM

Anyways, I'm giving it to a friend for a Wedding Present (he insisted I don't buy him anything but "How to Brew," so I'll make this to have at the party.... he loves SN Celebration Ale which is big on chinook)

Looks pretty good. If you drop the Victory down a little and increase the Chocolate a bit you'd have a nice hoppy American Brown Ale.

Yes, Amarillo will go great with Cascade and Chinook.

I'd just add some pale chocolate for "mid-range" chocolaty/roastiness & more color. With all due respect to Sheen, I think the victory will give it a nice nutty flavor so I'd leave that as it is. Maybe just a 1/2 lb of pale chocolate should do the trick. That would make a really nice India Brown Ale.

If you want to stay more in line of like a SN Celebration, Drop the chocolate altogether and add a 1/2 lb of Crystal 80.

Finally, I am assuming you are aware that the 2 row needs to be mashed. I'd go for 153F on that.

No respect required  I just thought 1.5 lbs was a bit too much nutty/biscuitiness for an American Brown.

Thanks everybody! I heard a small amount of chocolate int he grist helps give a nice color and just a hint of roastiness, that's what I was going for, but I'll just drop it in favor of the crystal 80 thanks!
