Great BYO article, thanks Chrishw. Danny, your suggestions are different than the BYO article, but sound like a great idea.

I gotta decide if I want to just convert a small portion of the full batch to NA (using the BYO method) or do a full batch of NA using Danny's.

Thanks for the help everyone

Like you all, I'm cringing at the thought of doing this, but hey . . . this is for a white trash friend in Texas. She may only go through this 3-4 more times, so I really ought to do my best to keep it special.

Well I just read about it and they guy froze and boiled to remove the alcohol. I found it searching for low alcohol brewing or something like that.

An ordinary bitter cut back even more on the OG will work. It will have some juice in it. The first one I brewed is fairly low, and that was a standard recipe. I can drink 2 22 ounce bottles and not get much buzz. Less buzz then any other one 22 ounce beer commercial or home.

Last choice would be just brew an Imperial IPA and get everyone stoned.

You can put the kettle in your oven (assuming it'll fit) and slowly boil off the alcohol. Bitterness will remain, but all the hop flavor and aroma will cook off--try a style that doesn't rely on the hops so much. Then force carb and serve. I asked JZ his advice, and that's exactly what he said.
