Just stumbled across this thread I been working on an AB clone for the last year this is my 5th batch I'm satisfied with the grain bill but the hops still have me making adjustments, I have brewed with just Chinook and its not quite right so I'm trying a little cascade. Have 10 gallons in sec right now. Will post if hop adjustment is good.l

Heck, post your results regardless ;)

Somehow I doubt that Stone uses Cascade, so I'm interested to hear how this one comes out.

I have a recipe that I have brewed a few times that is similar to yours in terms of specialty malt, for hops I use Chinook, Columbus and Centennial. For what I have brewed I am not trying to clone AB, my version is a bit stronger, but having said that, it is very Arrogant-like.

I started out trying to archive the perfect clone but as you can see from my OG. I'm closer to the 10% abv of Double Bastard than the 7.2% abv of Arrogant Bastard. Check out the tasting notes for DB at stones web site keep seeing citrus as a hop descriptor.

I decided to go to the source about hops, from Mitch Steele reply I think cascades are in there or maybe not "Double Top Secret"

Mitch
I'm a huge fan of the bastard, and pick up a bottle or two when I come
across them. I been Home brewing for about 10 years and when I find a
brew that is worthy I will try and clone it. I have been working on an
Arrogant Bastard clone for about a year, it is my most popular beer amongst my friends they love it. I'm satisfied with my grain bill but hops have been troubling me a bit I have been working Chinook and Chinook Cascade combinations. If it not against company policy or a deep dark stone secret that would get you shot for uttering it outside the secret circle could you tell me the type of hops you are using in Arrogant Bastard.

Thanks and keep up the great brewing.
Mike

Mike:
Unfortunately, I can't talk about Arrogant Bastard Ale ingredients. Any
ingredient in this beer is considered "Double Top Secret". I think you'd
get close to the profile with the hops you are using, though. Just use
LOTS of 'em!

Good luck, and thanks for the note!

Sounds good to me! let us know know from your tasting (and/or send me a bottle ;) )

Your version is very similar to the one I make, my target O.G. is the same - as you say, closer to Double Bastard. The last time I made it I used 30% Marris Otter and prefer the result. I have it named "Aggravated B!tch" in honor of my other half.
