Muntons CarbTabs

Who uses them :?: I'm planning to bottle the Americam Amber Ale in the secondary this weekend. I usually keg but lately I've been brewing 'em faster than I can drink 'em and I'm out of kegs. I'm going to use 22oz bomber bottles and I bought a package of Muntons CarbTabs because I don't like the idea of racking from the secondary into a bottling bucket, then racking into bottles - I'll go straight from carboy to bottle. Anyone have experience with these tabs - pros and cons?

I use them for when I have just a little bit too much beer to fit in a corny. The remainder gets bottled and I use the tabs so I don't have to figure out how much sugar I need to carb an odd amount.

Pros: Easy to use, no math for proper carbing

Cons: More expensive than regular priming sugar, some people report unreliable results (not my experience)

Great reason to always have some on hand. I'm sold.

Thanks DH...OK, I bottled today - my American Amber Ale should be a winner, I can't wait. The tabs were fairly easy to use, I put 7 tabs each into 31 sanitized bottles. Ended up bottling 27 bombers (22 oz). I capped the other 4 empties with the tabs in them since they're sanitized and ready to go. Next time I keg I can pop the caps and bottle a few without hassle.

I have used the carb drops for the second time recently. I didn't notice any probs with going from 22 to 12oz bottles. Seems to be just enough for both sizes. I don't know that it would be totally appropriate to style, but it works for drinking.
