Questions for the fridge experts

Sun Apr 02, 2006 3:44 am

Excuse me for posting this type of question but I only HOPE that someone here tinkers with refridgerators as well. As some of you know I built a home bar with a fridge built from random bits and pieces. Well it works fine but the question is about my choice of parts. I am upgrading the defrost element to a 400 watt cal rod. It's an element very much like that you see in you oven. This steps up from the whimpy coil in a glass tube type heater. I'm curious is this too hot or not hot enough. I've looked for a newgroup that deals in this area but the pickins are slim to none. You see I don't know anyone that has built their own fridge before so I'm kinda in uncharted territory. If any of you know of another source of info to tap on or perhaps know something you may offer feel free to chime in. Thanks in advance.
