Water Filter Kit

Thu Feb 07, 2008 12:01 pm

I was looking at the Water Filter kit from B3. It is 35 bucks...So I think it might be worth the investment... So I can just hook up the garden hose and goto town.

I have it. It works well. I run the water pretty slowly through it and the "out" water certainly tastes and smells nicer than the "in" water.

If you think you might ever want to use it with your kitchen sink, also buy the little adapter that's shown on the same page in the "related items" section.

Using the garden hose not such a good idea - if you need to use a hose buy one of the white 'food grade' hoses from HW Store, the kind they use to hook up RV's. I have one of these hooked up to my laundry room faucet using the adapter mentioned by Pseudolus. Adjust fill rate to about 1 gallon per 5 minutes.

Garden hose is fine on the input side, as the carbon filter also filters out any vinyl taste and aroma. +1 for the RV hose on the output side.

Really?!!?

That's allot slower than I've been going. Does it normally take everyone 30 plus minutes to get your brew water poured? Well, I need about 8 gals for 5 typically so it would take me more like 40 - 45 min.

I move it through there pretty slow but that just seems like a trickle. Am I going too fast?

Yes, you need sufficient contact time with the activated carbon to remove all the nasty, chlorine taste. I fill my HLT like I do my BK. When I get a inch or two in there, I start the flame. I let the water trickle in there as I am coming up to strike temp.

You live where the water is clean, bastard! The rest of us have to deal with what happens to water after Badrock goes to work on it!
