Cooler Valve Kit

I just bought the cooler valve kit from NB http://www.northernbrewer.com/pics/full ... basic+.jpg
and have no clue how to install it correctly. I tried to follow their instructions, but kind of vague. I tried installing it with the metal washers on the inside of the cooler and the rubber washers on the outside of the cooler, but it is leaking.
Any ideas out there.

Put 1 washer and 1 o-ring on the inside (o-ring touches the wall), and 1 o-ring and 1 washer on the outside (o-ring again touches the wall).
