Need a motor for something? Grab a junked washing machine

Here's how you can wire up a washing machine motor either as a pump, or maybe malt mill motor, or whatever. Forward and Reverse shown...

Very cool info.

This probably goes without saying, but you also might seriously consider connecting the ground wire to the motor mounting bracket etc so you don't get any energized surfaces. Also, consider using a GFI-protected circuit to power it.

Fully agree, and I did so when I used this motor to make my Doc's Keg Washer (see recent post).
